Stripers are running!!

During the fall and spring the striped bass begin to run up the Little Miami River from the Ohio and feed on huge flies! All of the D&H employees work hard to land the big ones, Stripers are a light sensitive fish which means its fishing late at night with a head lamp or early in the morning right at sunrise. Hooking up to a striper is a fun fight, they are called the masters of current.

This was landed last year at this time!

Here are some personal striper flies I tied up for this coming season

  1. How far will they actually come up the LMR? I would like to fish around Loveland before my work day starts but not sure if I'm just wasting my time or not. Any advice? Thanks.

  2. They should get up that far but hooking into them seems to be more chance than skill. We fish for them a lot around Mariemont and Terrace Park. Try throwing big flies this time of year as the shad have had all summer to grow.
