Little Miami Gar

                Little Miami Gar Fishing

The other shop employee's and I have been doing a bit of Gar fishing on the Little Miami due to the recent heat and the easy access to plenty of Gar.

Christain with the best fish of the day.

We have been getting on the water about 7:00 a.m. and fishing until about 9 or 10. Rope flies tend to work really well for Gar since their long beaks are very tough to penetrate with a hook. The rope flies work because Gar tend to roll with their prey once they have attacked. The rope fibers become tangled in their many small teeth. We undo the rope and release them, no worse for the wear!
Louis caught one too.

Luke's first Gar on the fly.

We even let the new guy catch one.
