I switched the rig to a dry-dropper rig with a very light, red chironomid and within a few casts we were into a nice Brown trout. I did not realize it at the time, but not only was it Dale's first trout on the fly, it was his first fish on the fly!
Despite having never fought a fish on a fly rod and having a right-hand retrieve reel, Dale did a great job landing this healthy Brown. Shortly after this fish, the water began to rise and eventually leveled out about 3 feet. After the rise, we had less luck. At least on Tuesday, both sides of the park near the dam were closed to visitors. We also picked up a few fish we didn't mean too:
Fall is a great time to fish Brookville, contact us if you are interested in a guide trip or some trout fishing instruction.
