Smoky Mountains Fishing Trip

  One of our former employees, Fj Crane, is getting married soon so we put together a "bachelor party" of sorts and headed down to Tennessee to fish for a few days. We used Townsend, TN as our base of operations. Townsend is a quaint little community right on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Fly fishing in the Smoky Mountains is tons of fun and something every Cincinnati angler should experience.  There are larger rivers and very small mountain streams.  The waterfalls, trails and fish make this a great experience.

Fly Fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by Jim Casada.  We have both hardbound and softbound versions.  The hardbound are signed by the author.

          Fishermen come in all the time to ask me to set them up with the perfect fishing organization system. Over the years, I have tried several systems and continue to use multiple systems depending on the fishing situation and location. I still use a vest occasionally (and like it) but I have also been very happy with Fishpond and Patagonia non-vest products.

Smoky Mountain Fishing Trip

           I just returned from several days fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with my co-worker F.J. Crane and his brother Sean. While it was my first time fishing in the park, F.J. was fairly experienced, having fished there several times. We focused on the high mountain streams. These streams have tons of small, 100% native, Brook trout. The streams are tight and full of rocks. For those of us not heading to Mongolia or the Amazon anytime soon, I believe the Smoky’s are tougher on gear than any other stream I have fished lately. Our waders, reels, and wading boots sure took a beating.
