dove field update
I spoke to our farmer today and he said he is covered up in birds. The cold evening we had about two weeks ago sent many birds South, but with this warm weather we have been having our numbers have built back up. Anything can happen between now and the season opener this coming Sunday, but things are looking good.

new items arriving at the shop daily: Sperry driving shoes
Men's Gold Cup ASV Kennebunk Venetian Loafer
As part of Sperry’s Gold Cup Collection, these driving mocs feature hand-sewn premium leather uppers and luxurious deerskin linings. Look for seasonal updates including richly hand-burnished leathers and contrasting stitching. In addition to their superior workmanship, these ultra-comfortable slip-ons have been engineered with Sperry’s patented ASV Technology™. It was first developed for Sperry’s Performance line for power boaters and anglers to reduce the effects of shock and g-forces they feel from engine vibrations and pounding waves. We’ve infused the technology into our Gold Cup Collection to keep feet, legs and back as stress-free and comfortable on the open road as they are on deck.Stop in the Hyde Park Square shop and try on a pair.

new items arriving at the shop daily: Filson Short Cruiser Jacket
Filson Short Cruiser Jacket
The reason we added this jacket to the range of goods offered at Delamere & Hopkins is because it is a solid work jacket. This is the jacket you will see fence riders in Montana and Wyoming wearing. It is made in the USA of a 12.5oz 100% Cotton Oil Finish Tin Cloth. This is the real stuff.
The cut of the jacket is called the Seattle fit and that means it is slightly slimmer in the body than some of the older Filson jackets, but it is not too drastic. I am 6' and a 42 regular and the size Large fits me just fine.
This is the type of garment that gets better with age and gains character.
Think Jett Rink on the Little Reata.

Whitewater River Report 8/21/13
One of Lilly's first fish on the fly rod |
Many of the fish we caught were on the smaller side but I hooked one or two pretty decent fish that did not make it to hand. We primarily threw baitfish patterns. Water levels were a bit low but we were able to paddle most of the time. We concentrated on riffle and tailouts. We used Morgan's canoe livery. I was very happy with their service and facilities/equipment. I would highly suggest using this livery if you want to fish the Whitewater yourself. We are offering guided trips on the Whitewater or we will be happy to help you any advice.

Simms Rivershed Wading Boot Review
As much as it hurt, I finally replaced my pair of Simms Rivershed Wading Boots. My last pair lasted me about five years of solid fishing and wading. I put these boots threw a lot, and I mean it! They have lasted through multiple steelhead seasons, I have found nails in the soles, and I landed my largest trout while wearing my now old Riversheds. These are the only boots that I will ever purchase. The sticky rubber has unbelievable traction which can only be improved by adding some aluminum studs for more grip. The soles of these boots are perfect for wading, especially in cold and icy conditions. While fishing in these conditions, felt soles soak up water and then freeze once they leave the water and enter the frigid air temperatures. These boots have saved me from a couple twisted, maybe even broken, ankles because of the tremendous support in both the foot and ankle regions. To this I am ever grateful for my Simms Riversheds. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the shop at 513-871-3474.

Flats fishing in Michigan
I just got back from a family trip to Michigan. A friend generously invited me to come along on a guided trip for some Lake Michigan flats for smallmouth and carp. Unfortunately, the fish did not cooperate, but the fishing was on of the most unique fishing experiences I have had in a long time. We fished with Capt. Ethan Winchester from Boyne Outfitters, near Boyne, Michigan. He was an excellent guide and persisted in the face of a tough day. Check out the pics below for more...

new Sperry shoes are in the Hyde Park Square shop
We are adding new products to the range of goods at the Hyde Park shop on a weekly basis. We have received a shipment of Sperry Gold Cup shoes in the classic Authentic Original style. This is the style that started it all, just taken to the next level. Stop in the shop and try on a pair.
The iconic boat shoe elevates style to the next level as part of the Gold Cup Collection. Their finely tooled premium leather uppers are sewn by hand and lined with luxuriously soft deerskin. Hand-burnished leathers, unique color combinations, contrasts on soles and in laces, along with distinctive details like 18k gold-plated eyelets set these boat shoes oceans apart.
