Brookville/Whitewater Fishing Reports 6/26/13
Yesterday Louis, Nick, and I came up with a plan to fish Brookville Tailwaters in the morning for trout and then the Whitewater River in the afternoon for smallmouth. Brookville is pretty familiar to us so were pretty excited to try some new water and the Whitewater did not dissapoint.

Brookville Report 6/18/13
I haven't had much chance to fish Brookville this year, so I was excited to fish there today, especially since all the local smallmouth streams are blown out. Nick picked me up this morning at 6 and we headed west. A quick stop to buy a one day license and we were in the water. The morning started out a bit overcast which is great for trout fishing.

Mad River Report 6/17/13
What a nice day to be out on the Mad! The weather was perfect except for a little rain in the morning. Nick and I decided that this would be a good opportunity to head up north and test out our trout fishing skills. We arrived at about 7 a.m. and fished well through the morning until about 1:30 p.m. The river was flowing just right at 155cfs after coming down from the large rain storm we just had. We knew that we were going to have a good day throwing streamers, but especially nymphs.

Biggest fish of the year!!
After hearing story after story about catching carp on a top water mulberry fly last year, I decided I would devote a day to finding my own mulberry tree hanging over the Little Miami river. Last year a few smaller fish were pulled out but I new a little bit more about what I was doing this year. Click below to read more!

Made my Night!
I took some time this morning to breast out and marinate a few Chukar I killed this past winter. I covered them with some Caribbean Jerk marinade and they were ready to go this evening. They took a quick turn in a hot cast iron skillet, got paired with some 5 minute couscous and washed down with a hometown IPA. Doesn't get much better in my book!

First Elkhorn Trip of the Season
Nick caught this one. |
I have been itching to get down to the Elkhorn Creek and check it out, so when I realized that Tuesday's weather and water looked perfect, it didn't take much to get me motivated. Nick Finney and I headed down to spend the day fishing for smallmouth and one of Kentucky's premiere small streams. Water was running at about 150 c.f.s. and when we got there the clarity was awesome. We could see almost every fish we passed.
